With arrow-slit windows, sweeping staircases and four poster bedrooms, Boringdon Hall has character, charm and heritage. The 16th century country manor has a rich history steeped in occasion and its tucked-away location makes Boringdon a wedding bolthole you’ll want to boast about.
From the intimate Rose Room with its double aspect lattice windows, to the Great Hall with its impressive fireplace, the hotel’s interiors provide the perfect backdrop to your celebrations. From exclusive use, to intimate gatherings, it really can be a place for a truly memorable “I-do”.
So, where do I start? What are the first jobs to do?
First things first - set a budget and draft a guest list. These two decisions will shape everything else: from the venue to the catering. Once you’ve got a ballpark figure and an idea of numbers, booking your venue should be at the top of your to-do list. Venues often book up well over a year in advance, especially popular ones, so locking in a date is key. After that, think about your photographer, as the best get snapped up quickly, and start researching your dream suppliers, from florists to entertainment. But before you dive into all of this, have a conversation about what really matters to you both - whether that’s food, music, or a more intimate vibe. That will guide every choice you make during the planning process.
What’s trending for 2025?
For weddings in 2025, it’s all about personalisation and stepping away from tradition. Couples are opting for non-traditional venues, relaxed catering, and alternative wedding dresses (sometimes even multiple outfits to express their personal style). Unique experiences and entertainment are key to creating memorable, one-of-a-kind celebrations. In terms of colour, we’re seeing a blend of warm earthy tones with vibrant pops of colour, complemented by bold florals. Multi-day and destination weddings are becoming more popular, giving couples the chance to extend the celebration and create a mini getaway with their nearest and dearest. This shift also aligns with the rise of two key honeymoon trends – buddy moons and family moons. Sustainability is still at the forefront, with couples choosing seasonal flowers, eco-friendly décor, and mindful, low-waste choices to reflect their lifestyles.
Tips to handle tricky guest lists?
Our advice is to start with your must-haves - close family, lifelong friends - and work out the rest from there, with your venue capacity and budget in mind. If parents are contributing financially, it’s always best to have a conversation about expectations and numbers early on. Remember it’s your day; you’re allowed to set boundaries. If you’re stuck, think about whether you’ve spoken to or seen this person in the last year - if not, that’s a good enough reason for them not to make the list.
How do I choose the right venue?
First, think about your wedding vibe, and what you envision the day to look like - formal or relaxed, countryside or city, historic or modern? Make sure the venue fits your vision. Consider the practicalities too - does it have enough space, good lighting for photos, a wet weather option, and accommodation for guests? And ask about what’s included - some venues are “dry hire” and you’ll need to bring in everything, while others offer full packages. Finally, visit in person and trust your gut - how you feel when you walk in is just as important as the logistics. “The feeling” really isn’t a lie! You’ll likely know when you know.
How do I make my wedding unique?
We’ve loved seeing couples really make their day their own - whether that’s non-traditional ceremonies, unexpected entertainment (like live illustrators or late-night espresso martinis from a coffee cart), or bold fashion choices (we’re talking colourful suits, chic mini dresses or even a black wedding dress). One of our favourites was a wedding where the couple had a spicy marg tower, instead of the classic champagne! Ultimately, it’s about infusing your personality into every element!
