With the breathtaking surroundings that Devon offers, from the rugged coastlines to the rolling hills and forests of Dartmoor, it’s no surprise sharing adventures has become a passion for @life.through.hollys.lens.
Holly delights in exploring the great outdoors, sharing her hiking adventures, sea swims, and hidden gems in South Devon. We recently caught up with her to hear about her unforgettable stay at Boringdon.
How did you get into content creating?
It was during lockdown…I was furloughed for 6 weeks and for the first time in years I had time to get outside and use my camera. I had previously studied photography in my A levels but had lost my way with it so this was the perfect time to have something to focus on whilst the world was in a strange place. I started my Instagram page and it’s grown organically since then and I’ve had some amazing opportunities come with it, I am a champion for Ordnance Survey and also get to partner and work with some wonderful businesses, all whilst doing what I love - spending time outdoors.
What’s your favourite thing about Dartmoor?
Simply, the endless views. There are so many different areas of Dartmoor that offer different types of scenery, from Bellever Forest to Sheeps Tor and the stunning view over Burrator Reservoir and then seeing more Dartmoor history that remains around the Merrivale area.
What’s your perfect wellness routine?
Getting a good nights sleep, and having a skin care routine that makes you feel confident in your own skin and getting out in the fresh air for a walk...did you know that spending 2 hours a week in nature is associated with good health and wellbeing?
Lunch or afternoon tea?
Tough choice as I love both! But if I had to choose it would be going out for a nice lunch with a glass of wine.
Sweet or savoury?
That’s an easy choice for me...I have a massive sweet tooth!
Spa day or hike on the moors?
Another tough choice! As much as I adore a spa day, I am going to say Dartmoor due to the positive impact walking on the moors has on my wellbeing, it’s amazing.
Cocktail or wine?
Wine, I love a cold glass of Provence Rose, my favourite is Mirabeau Pure Rose.
What’s your guilty pleasure in life?
Probably binge watching a good series on Netflix, once I get hooked on a good show, I can’t stop watching...
What’s your go to karaoke song?
Say You’ll Be There by Spice Girls.
Describe your perfect day.
Going for a hike on a sunny day, then getting lunch somewhere and visiting the spa in the afternoon - these kinds of activities just fill my cup up!
What was the highlight of your stay with us?
Definitely the afternoon tea. It was a lovely experience being sat in the Great Hall, it’s such a grand, stunning room and I loved the endless supply of Jing Peppermint tea. I also tried the Rose tea which was lovely and fragrant.
What was your favourite foodie moment at Boringdon Hall?
I’d say the cakes that are served with the afternoon tea, I was really wowed by them, they are so pretty, perfect and delicious!
