Afternoon Tea at Boringdon Hall

Indulge in a Laurent-Perrier Champagne Afternoon Tea at Boringdon Hall Hotel

Celebrate with loved ones or indulge in some me time over a rather special Afternoon Tea. Tiers of treats await those who book an Afternoon Tea experience at 5-star Boringdon Hall Hotel, or ‘the enchanted house on the hill’ as it’s fondly called.

Where Would You Like to Take Tea?
The new for 2024 experience will give guests the option to choose a selection of cakes from a bespoke trolley. Apart from choosing which cakes you’d like; your only other decision is where would you like to take Afternoon Tea? Opt for the lawn on a summer’s day and soak up the sunshine with the grandeur of trees and Boringdon Hall Hotel’s façade behind you.

Or choose to recline in the Great Hall and be immersed in history dating back to Henry VIII and Sir Francis Drake. Dark wood, large windows and beautiful furnishings give this space a regal air, which will leave you feeling like royalty.

On The Menu
There’s something for everyone on the Champagne Afternoon Tea menu. The savoury tier includes the usual affair of finger sandwiches, as well as a Gruyere & Rosemary Scone and Goats Cheese & Beetroot Tart.

Choose from fruit or plain scones and delight in a range of conserves complimented by the clotted cream. Will you choose the Devonshire or Cornish way of enjoying the classic cream tea?

Boringdon Hall Hotel’s expert team will present a selection of freshly baked cakes on the bespoke trolley. Choose your sweet treats and enjoy with a cup of tea. Teaming up with Jing Tea Boringdon Hall Hotel’s Afternoon Tea menu includes 17 different tea blends to pair with your experience.

The History of Afternoon Tea
The time-honoured tradition of Afternoon Tea started with a lady who was hungry. In 1840 Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, felt a sinking feeling come late afternoon when the gap between lunch and dinner felt all too long. A friend of Queen Victoria, the Duchess began serving a small bite to eat alongside tea to her high society friends. The trend caught on and a ritual was born.
